Yes, that's
right - no invited speakers, no pre-determined programme.
Mangosteen's policy at this point in time is not to select and
formally invite particular individual scientists to speak during
our meetings - accordingly no one is invited, and there are only
participants rather than speakers.
Scientists themselves elect to participate in our meetings
and those that want to present work in the form of an
oral or poster presentation will be given every opportunity to
do so. This non-traditional approach may seem a little
unorthodox, and perhaps it is, but it works extremely
effectively and makes for a wonderful atmosphere during the
meeting. The reason for this - quite
possibly that everyone participating in our meetings does
so because they themselves chose to be there,
to get involved in the scientific discussion, and
no one is at the meeting out of a
sense of obligation to the organizer or for reasons of prestige.
It's all about communication! It's all about the science!
